Dramatic moment police arrest man on plane for raping 14-year-old girl

Dramatic video has captured the moment a paedophile was arrested on a plane as he tried to flee the country just days after having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Police bodycam footage shows how officers swooped on Diiriye Ali-Jamac, 34, onboard a plane at London’s Heathrow airport, just 30 minutes before the flight was due to depart.

Ali-Jamac had a one-way ticket to Ethiopia, police said.

Three days earlier, on April 28, a 14-year-old girl from Surrey, UK, was reported missing by her mother.

Police filed a missing person’s report and the child was found the following morning at Hounslow train station.

The girl told officers that she had arranged to meet a man she knew by the nickname “Diddie” with whom she had been chatting to on WhatsApp.

The man took her to a hotel and had sex with her, according to police.

By examining the content of her phone and looking at the background of a selfie she’d taken early that morning, officers were able to identify the hotel where the offence took place.

Police monitored hotel CCTV footage to track down the vehicle the offender had been driving, which led to a “wanted marker” being placed on Ali-Jamac.

Less than three hours later, he was spotted at the airport, where police pounced.

Paedophile jailed for six years

On August 19, Ali-Jamac was jailed for six years after earlier pleading guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child.

He was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Detective Constable Sally Michail from North Surrey’s Child Exploitation and Missing Unit, commended the victim for being brave enough to speak out “and having to relive the horrendous ordeal she had suffered at his hands all over again when she provided her statement”.

“She was completely taken in by this man, who was 20 years her senior and someone she thought she could trust,” she said.

“As soon as he became aware that police were on his trail, he tried to leave the country but fortunately we intercepted him as he boarded his flight.”
