Voot Select is all set to bring the first every direct-to-OTT film festival, Voot Select Film Fest, in India from July 24. The festival will see the premiere of eight films which are a mix of feature and short films, with the theme of the event being India Unfiltered. For eight days, starting from this Saturday, the platform will premiere a new film each day.
The films that are premiering in this edition are Vidya Balan’s Natkhat on July 24, Chunky Pandey and Neena Gupta-starrer Shuruat Ka Twist on July 25, Esha Deol’s Ek Duaa on July 26, Dipannita Sharma, Shibani Dandekar, Adil Hussein, Shekhar Ravjiani, and Natasha Rastogi’s Love In The Times Of Corona on July 27, Ashutosh Sohan Gupta and Shivani Raghuvanshi’s Jaan Jigar on July 28, Hina Khan’s Lines on July 29, Kaneez Surka’s The Shaila(s) on July 30 and Tannistha Chatterjee and Sonal Sehgal-starrer Lihaaf on July 31.
Today, the stars of some of those films, Vidya Balan, Chunky Pandey, Neena Gupta, Hina Khan, Esha Deol, and Kaneez Surka, got together to launch the film festival. The launch started with Vidya’s one-on-one session with comedian-actor Varun Thakur, where she spoke about her lockdown experience, why she chose Natkhat, her experience with the child actor, and more. She also went to share some fun details like how she pranked Akshay Kumar by setting multiple alarm clocks in his room and took the case of Farhan Akhtar by sending him a fake fan mail. Ferzad Palia, Head Of Voot Select, also joined in the conversation later on to highlight the aspects of this one-of-a-kind film festival.
Later on, comedian-actress Kaneez held a virtual fun session with Neena, Chunky, Esha, and Hina, which started with a fun dumb charades round, won by Chunky Pandey. Then all the actors went on to talk about their films and also share the names that they would like to give to their biopics if they are made someday. Neena, flustered by the question, said she would call her biopic ‘Mujhe Kuch Samajh Nahi Aaya’ and would like Nicole Kidman to star in it, while Esha said her biopic would be called ‘Keep On Rolling’ and with Neena’s suggestion, agreed that she would play the part herself. Neena also helped Hina come up with the name of her biopic, ‘Hina Meena Dika’ and while Chunky started by saying he would like his to be called Casino Royale, and feature Sean Connery in his role, he changed the title later on to ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’.
