When she’s not trying to get away with murder, Viola Davis is slaying the fashion game on the red carpet.
And if there’s one thing she does best, it’s dressing for comfort.
The 54-year-old Oscar-winning actress attended the 67th Emmy Awards wearing a stunning Alberta Ferretti black and white grecian gown and strappy sky-high heels, which she styled with a diamond necklace. She wore her hair in a giant afro.
But when Davis walked on stage during the show to present the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, fans couldn’t help but notice that she had changed her footwear.
Cameras caught Viola wearing a pair of metallic platform trainers underneath her glamorous dress, with many pointing it out on Twitter.
One wrote: “Viola Davis walking out in chunky silver sneakers and “you’re lucky I’m even here” energy is the inspiration I needed to keep going #Emmys”.
A second wrote: “I love that @violadavis was like, Yall gon’ get the sneakers and love it. #Emmys.”
While another said: “Viola Davis wearing an elegant gown with sneakers on is what I live for.”
If you’re wondering where to buy Viola’s trainers, you’re in luck: we’ve tracked down the exact pair - and they are still available to buy.
The Hogan Metallic Platform Trainers retail for £390 on Farfetch and are available in all sizes.
The pair features a round toe, lace fastening and a metallic sheen, making them a great option for any red carpet event.
It’s not the first time Viola has opted comfort over style on the red carpet.
Right after winning an Oscar for best supporting actress in Fences in 2017, the star switched out her red Stuart Weitzman pumps for a pair of YRU trainers backstage.
Then at Vanity Fair’s Oscars afterparty, she wore a tailored Brandon Maxwell jumpsuit styled with a pair of metallic creepers by Stella McCartney.
