Vivek Oberoi: EC saw PM Narendra Modi yesterday. Please allow it to release
Vivek Oberoi is waiting for the release of his film PM Narendra Modi, which has been shrouded in controversy since its inception. The film has received much flak from opposition parties and has been accused of propaganda, as the makers planned to release the film before the Lok Sabha elections.
PM Narendra Modi was meant to release on April 5, but was put on hold by the Election Commission. The Supreme Court had directed the EC to watch the full biopic on Modi and take an informed decision on banning its pan-India release.
Following this, the EC had asked the producers of the film to arrange for a screening for its committee.
The Election Commission has now viewed the film and seems like they have a positive response. Speaking about this, Vivek Oberoi said, "Everybody in the EC saw the film yesterday, we asked them how did you like the film? Can't tell you their response but we were happy with their answer; Only request is that the film should be allowed to release."
The highly-anticipated biopic has been produced by Sandeep Ssingh, Suresh Oberoi and has a star cast that includes Boman Irani, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan and Zarina Wahab. It has been directed by Omung Kumar.
Recently, director Omung Kumar said that the film wasn't propaganda. "It's not a propaganda film. Because it's coming out at this point of time, people are talking like that. People release their films on Diwali or Eid. I am releasing my film during this time (election time) because it's right time for me."
