Our audience is keen on reading stories of entrepreneurs creating a difference in the world. Your profile speaks volumes of the outstanding work you have done. Tell us about yourself and your work.

In January of 2018, I was five months away from finishing my degree in psychology at the University of Maine. It dawned on me that I didn’t want to go back to school for clinical psych. I found myself devoting a great deal of my spare time to researching topics like aromatherapy, naturopathy, holistic skincare, and other methods of alternative health and functional medicine. I browsed the internet for hours searching for wellness centers that offered holistic treatments. Soon after, I found myself in New York City, interviewing for post-grad wellness jobs. I was willing to take anything I could get to learn from the top professionals and practitioners in the industry. After completing an internship at a wellness space in Midtown Manhattan, they offered me a full-time job as the Sales and Marketing Manager. Every day I was hungry to grow, so I began constructing business plans.

In detail, tell us about your journey behind creating this valuable brand.

Working in the wellness industry and being so passionate, marketing and sales became second-nature. It was easy to write and speak the language. Growing up with the development of social media, and possessing an in-depth understanding of the platforms, it was effortless to combine my skills with my knowledge. My goal was to turn practitioners and health coaches who may not know how to maximize their reach on social media into online forces.

Your story is something many readers would love to relate to. Now go in detail and tell us how your company works

Spike Society is a digital strategy agency founded on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Some of our offerings include brand strategy, content creation, and organic engagement. As our client’s profiles grow, we aim to sustain the roots and identity of the brand. As a wellness fanatic with a background in the field, I began Spike Society to specialize in helping health and wellness practitioners from traditional to more alternative/holistic practices to increase their influence on social media, the most powerful form of advertising.

What challenges did you face while creating your brand? What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

Early on, many of my clients were wellness professionals that I had worked with before and respected. As a millennial who has grown from being highly skilled to an expert in social media, a personal challenge I sometimes struggle with is an inability to say “no” when asked for help. It was especially important in the initial stages of the business to identify when I was biting off more than I could chew. One of my biggest fears was not being able to produce the highest-quality results for clients. We always want our team’s incredible level of compassion to match the level of work we provide for others. These growing pains led to a clearer picture of the menu of services we offer at Spike Society, as well as the number of clients we can accept at a time with our modest staffing. We have worked very hard to set certain limitations and make sure clients are getting the full experience. With our new staffing, we will have several client openings in October to fulfill the demand.

What is your future vision, and how do you wish to take your success to the next level?

Spike Society’s headquarters will remain in NYC for the time being. Eventually, we will expand to the west coast. Being bi-coastal and growing, the company will allow us to assist more small businesses and entrepreneurs. Spike Society will continue to specialize in wellness brands, and I foresee myself remaining in digital advertising for quite some time. As for my involvement in wellness, I will be a student and teacher for the rest of my life with plans to start my own wellness company one day.

How do you deal with stress, work pressure on a day to day basis?

Last fall, I was introduced to Vedic meditation. Combining this with my practice of holistic health, I found that if I prioritize calming my nervous system, I am capable of new resiliency and drive.

What advice would you like to give to someone who has a dream of creating something of his own and make a living through it?

Follow your intuition. Find a way to combine doing something you love and are good at, with something that helps the planet. If everyone began implementing this idea in their lives, the world would be a better place. What we love about the world will love us back.
