After Gal Gadot’s much awaited sequel Wonder Woman 1984 did well on the Christmas Day weekend at the box office, the super hero comics continued to hold well on its first weekday.
Gal Gadot starrer Wonder Woman 1984 opened to mixed reviews across the globe and collected a good $16.70 million opening at the US domestic box office in its first weekend beating Christopher Nolan’s Tenet which collected $9.4 million when it opened in September. Thanks to the excitement, Wonder Woman 1984 collected $68.3 million at the International box office.
Now Gal Gadot is back with director Patty Jenkins in Wonder Woman 1984 released at the theaters worldwide and the HBO Max simultaneously. Wonder Woman 1984 opened to mixed reviews in India when it opened to a preview show on Thursday. Wonder Woman 1984 collected a good Rs 1 crore from the preview (English – Rs 90 lakhs, Hindi – Rs 10 lakhs). The earning went up on Thursday with Rs 1.80 crore (English – Rs 1.70 crore, Hindi – Rs 10 lakhs) which is highest opening day till date for any film in India post the pandemic situation and has beaten Christopher Nolan’s Tenet which collected Rs 1.30 crore on its first day.
Wonder Woman 1984 went up on the Christmas day with Rs 2.30 crore followed by a good Rs 1.90 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.90 crore on Sunday. As per early estimate, the super-hero flick went down on Monday with Rs around Rs 70-80 lakhs which is a good amount, bringing the total to Rs 9.65-9.75 crore (including the preview shows).
