2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 dried red chilli
2 teaspoons mustard seeds
½ teaspoon asafetida
2 teaspoons split white lentils (urad dal)
2 teaspoons split gram lentils (chana dal)
1 sprig fresh curry leaves
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 green mango, finely chopped
3 cups plain steamed rice
Salt to taste
• Heat oil in a pan on medium high flame. Break and add red chilli, mustard seeds, asafoetida, split white lentils, split gram lentils, curry leaves and turmeric.
• When spices crackle, sauté for a minute till lentils cook, add green mango and mix well. Sauté for 2 minutes.
• Add rice, toss well and season with salt.
• Serve hot.
