After working on Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, the hit trio of Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza bounced back again with Yes Boss. Let us see how it fared at the box office.
Yes Boss was directed, scripted and story told by Aziz Mirza (who made Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Circus TV Show). Aziz Mirza has chosen the story which was completely different from his previous venture. The direction was impressive handling many sequences with perfection. The story of a boot-licker who would do anything to get the attention of his boss in office was something Indian audience did not witness before on the silver screen. Dialogues were funny. Music by the legendary Jatin-Lalit was soul- riveting. Songs were tuneful with beautiful lyrics written by Javed Akhtar. Coming to the performance, I couldn’t have imagined anyone but Shah Rukh Khan playing Rahul with aplomb. Aditya Pancholi and Juhi Chawla were equally effective.
According to the Boxofficeindia.com, Yes Boss was released on 18th July, 1997 at 180 screens to Rs 57,00,000. The film collected Rs 1,79,00,000 in its first weekend and went onto collect Rs 3,29,00,000 in its first week. Yes Boss ended its theatrical run with Rs 11,33,00,000 against a budget of Rs 5,00,00,000 and was declared “Hit” at the box office.
