Black Friday 2020 is just two days away and it’s set to be the biggest event ever as pre-sales started weeks earlier than last year.
Amazon kicked off the trend by launching its early bird deals a whole month before Black Friday itself, which falls on 27 November, and other retailers soon followed, including Currys PC World, Boots, AO, John Lewis and Very.
The deals have been hotting up this week in the lead up to the event, as more and more brands and retailers join in on the action. Argos revealed its sale a week before Black Friday and Pandora followed just after.
As well as top early offers on tech products including TVs, laptops and games consoles, we’ve found top deals on home appliances, Apple products, mattresses, furniture, beauty buys and much more. You can check out all of our Black Friday buying guides here.
Fashion brands are notorious for offering discounts during Black Friday, with the likes of Asos and Topshop already launching early sales. But one brand we’ve all been waiting patiently for is Zara, and it has finally revealed its Black Friday offering which starts on 26 November. The brand very rarely offers discounts on its products, so now is the time to buy.
Zara is offering up to 40 per cent off selected items from 2pm on Thursday 26 November until 9pm on Black Friday, 27 November. Considering the brand only hosts sales a couple of times a year, a near-half price discount is an exciting offer. We’ve found our favourite items to shop in the sale below.
Read on for our top picks across clothing, accessories and footwear to add to your basket now before the sale begins. Trust us, you won’t want to wait.
Our IndyBest team hand-picks every deal we feature. We may earn some commission from the links in this article, but our selections have been made independently and without bias. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.
Zara houndstooth wool blend coat: Was £95.99, now £57.99
Houndstooth print is back in vogue this season, and trust Zara to design a fresh take on the classic. Wonderfully oversized with a drop shoulder and double breast detailing, this is perfect for throwing over big knits. Pair with chunky military-style boots and you’ll be bang on trend. The coat is part of Zara’s “join life” collection, made from reclaimed wool from other wool garments, making it a more conscious buy.
Zara flat leather ankle boots with track soles: Was £89.99, now £53.99
Zara has truly dominated the boot market this winter - it’s near impossible to scroll through Instagram without seeing those famous khaki welly-style boots that everyone is wearing. If you’re looking for a more versatile pair, these real leather boots are still on trend with their chunky cleated sole, but will go with everything. Another piece from the brand’s “join life” collection, the leather was tanned using more sustainable practices. Real leather boots for just over £50? We’re sold.
Zara textured knit trouser: Was £29.99, now £17.99
We’ve all been investing in far more loungewear during the pandemic, but how much is too much? We think there’s room to squeeze in another set from Zara, especially at this price. The high waisted knit trousers have an elasticated waistband (perfect for Christmas Day) and the mink marl design is a different take on the classic camel or cream shades we’re seeing everywhere. A similar pair of knit trousers landed a spot in our review of the best loungewear of 2020, so we’re sure these will also impress. The matching high neck jumper is also on sale down from £29.99 to £17.99, and we love the generous length and the side splits at the hem.
Zara leather shoulder bag with flap: Was £59.99, now £35.99
You can thank Bottega Venetta for inspiring the wave of crossiant-style bags we’ve seen this season, and Zara’s take on the trend certainty doesn’t fall short. We love the deep tan colour and the ring strap details, it will be the perfect accessory to show off when we can finally socialise. The shoulder bag is part of Zara’s more conscious range, with leather that was made in tanneries that are Leather Working Group gold or silver certified, an audit that looks at waste management and energy and chemical use.
Zara belted overshirt: Was £49.99, now £29.99
Another staple piece for winter, shackets are bang on trend (that’s a cross between a jacket and a shirt for the uninitiated). We love this one in a mauve, marl colour way, with a tie at the waist and oversized pockets. The contrasting buttons and colour add a preppy feel, but the structured cut will look smart over plenty of outfits. It’s also available in beige and black.
Zara faux leather shirt dress: Was £49.99, now £29.99
Don the leather look-trend with this statement shirt dress that looks flattering in all the right places. The perfect combination of dressy and casual, the cuffed sleeves and knee-length fit bring a utilitarian feel to the piece, but the ruched detailing at the waist adds extra pizzazz, accentuating your figure. Dress down with chunky boots or up with heeled mules for a festive fit.
